Chavean Yarbrough-Orr - Secretary/Treasurer

Chavean-Yarbrough-OrrMrs. Chavean Yarbrough-Orr is a native of Oakland California.  Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr moved to Antioch several years ago and resides here with her family.  Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr serves on the R.A.A.M.P. board of directors and has a daughter that attends R.A.A.M.P. Charter Academy.

Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr had her first child at seventeen and dropped out of school after completing the eleventh grade.  At a young age she returned to school to obtain a GED and discovered the financial challenges of raising a family took precedent. Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr is a mother to six children and grandmother of three. She has been married for 22 years.

Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr started her employment history with the East Oakland Youth Development Center (EOYDC) as a receptionist. She later transferred to a position as PBX Operator for the Oakland Airport Hilton and worked there for 10 years.  In that capacity Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr also assisted with the coordination of conference event plans in the area of Telecommunications.  Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr has also been a Star Consultant for several years with Mary Kay Cosmetics, served as CEO of Baskets by Design, and has been an Independent Business Owner with Quixtar/Amway Global.

Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr has many abilities and leadership qualities. She has performed professionally as a singer and modern and jazz dancer.  She has also been actively involved in ministerial leadership with Living Epistles in Christ and The Carpenter Shop International organization as a licensed ordained evangelist.

Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr has developed skills and knowledge in special education as a result of her own child's diagnosis of Asperger's under the umbrella of Autism.  Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr has become an advocate and interested parent in identifying needs for children with similar disorders in the school system and community.  Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr recently went back to school and received a GED through the Liberty Union Adult School.  She plans to pursue education in the area of special education.

Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr serves as a certified mediator and family advocate, and in a clergy/parent advisory committee role to the Executive Board for East Contra Costa Youth Intervention Network (YIN). Mrs. Yarbrough-Orr was nominated to serve on the Parent Advisory Committee /School Site Council for Floyd I. Marchus School in the Mt. Diablo School District.   She also completed a course in Education Through Music (ETM) as a parent participant.
